Rutger’s Coach v/s My Coach

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

After hearing about the head basketball coach at Rutgers University getting fired for throwing basketballs at his players, I immediately laughed and said this must be a joke of some sort. I then turned to ESPN and saw what was described as a coach “ABUSING” his players. After I watched this I said, “That’s it?” and “They fired him for that?” For anyone who knew of or played for my former JUCO coach Theodore “Chap” Chaplin(Deceased), they would tell you we were pushed, shook, beat with a broom for each missed free throw in games, practiced for 3+ hours, and on top of that he made us run to the next town and back which was 7 miles away (Yes 14 miles total!) for a poor showing in a game the night before! Coach Chap as he was known was extremely tough on us, but he had our ultimate respect, attention, and it translated into WINS! He coached at Denmark Tech College for 37 years and finished with a record of 600 wins, and 117 defeats! Yes you read it right 600-117, and on top of that 3 undefeated seasons, with 28 CONSECUTIVE winning seasons! No one ever questioned his coaching style, complained to the NCAA powers to be, or went to the President of the school about his practices and how he handled the young men he coached! You know why no one through the years ever reported him? It’s because we weren’t SOFT like the kids who participate in sports now. Kids are so soft now and cannot even take being yelled at let alone have a ball thrown at them. I feel sorry for the coach, but in defense of the kids he forgot that it’s 2013 and winning would’ve kept this out of the media. He wasn’t winning, therefore any public/media outcry by a spoiled player or disgruntled former coach will get you FIRED ASAP! Coach Chap coached us hard there’s no doubt about that, but it made us all better MEN in life, and we of course our team went 29-4! Lol. Coach Bobby Knight same way – same results! Consistently winning is the key, but it’s called DISCIPLINE NOT ABUSE! THE GAME MISSES YOU COACH CHAP!!!! THOUGHTS?

Drop Her Off At Work!!!!

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

On my way to work this morning, I stopped at the gas station and as I was getting out of the car I hear a couple arguing at the pumps over something that shouldn’t even be a conversation that early in the morning. The lady who is dressed in slacks, a blouse, and heels jumps out of the car slams the door and yells,

Lady: “Sorry mutha%$@&# you better find a job soon or else you’re a$$ is getting out of my house!”

Guy: Rolls down the window and screams, “You have been saying that s%$t for years and I’m still here!”

He then exits the vehicle and runs into the store behind her huffing and puffing. They come out still arguing.

Lady: “All you do is lay around all day playing a damn game and claiming you looking for a job!”

Guy: “Playing that game is gonna get me paid!”

I then proceed to laugh my a$$ off as I couldn’t hold it in anymore and apparently the guy hears me then says,

Guy: “See you got muthaf$#%@&^ out here judging me, you putting my business in these streets!”

Lady: “Business? I’m calling your mother and telling her you’re coming back for good after I get off work this evening!”

As I pull off, I start to think how can guys sit on their a$$ and feel comfortable not working!? True indeed it’s partly the lady’s fault for allowing him to drop her off to work, and then lay around all day doing absolutely nothing; but where is the guys heart, balls, and brain in this situation? There’s a job out there for him and some people will say the economy is bad but here in Houston that’s “NOT” a valid excuse. Fast food, lawn services, construction companies, and waiting tables are all options for people like this guy, but he’s too proud or just plain sorry to get off his a$$ and WORK!!!! I can’t stand PEOPLE who don’t want to work for a living!!! THOUGHTS!!!!???

Can Men And Women Truly Be Friends?

Friday, May 4th, 2012

I was talking to one of my friends this morning on my drive in, and we were having a discussion about whether men and women could only be “FRIENDS.” We are both married, and agree that only a small percentage of opposite sex friends have HONESTLY never crossed the line. We aren’t talking about the male “FRIEND” that you slept with in college, and now all of a sudden it never happened since you were at school in Chicago and now you reside in Orlando where no one knew of the relationship. And guys we definitely aren’t talking about the “FRIEND” who helped you through your break-up!

But what we do disagree on is this: Is it alright for a married person to become “FRIENDS” with someone of the opposite sex AFTER they are married? THOUGHTS?????

He Hired His Mistress!!!

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

I’m sure by now that you all have heard about the Head Football Coach who while riding his motorcycle with his mistress had an accident and now he has been fired from his multi-million dollar a year coaching gig. Well there’s a whole lot more to this story! 1st I will start with the fact that he is 50+ years old and married with 5 kids. He hired the 25 year old (former volleyball player at the school he coaches) mistress to work in the football department in a position where she would earn right at $56,000/ year. On top of that, he gave her $20,000 out of his own pocket as a GIFT in which she turned around and bought a vehicle in her 1st week on the job! Now she has been placed on leave pending further investigation!

OK OK you are probably saying, “Bobby Rouse, why are you surprised as this happens ALL THE TIME!” You know what, you are right! But the thing about this that bothers me is the fact that he gave her that job and there were probably people who applied that were ACTUALLY QUALIFIED!!! It amazes me how people in positions to hire are allowed to place UNQUALIFIED individuals in positions that they clearly cannot function in!!! He deserved to get fired for being STUPID!!!! For real COACH? You hire your mistress??? Really??? DUMB ASS!!!!

Petrino’s ex-mistress put on leave at Arkansas
By KURT VOIGT | The Associated Press – Fri, Apr 13, 2012 4:00 PM EDT.. .

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) Arkansas put the former mistress of Bobby Petrino on paid leave Friday and disclosed that she used a $20,000 ”gift” from the disgraced former coach to buy a car in her first week on the job.

University spokesman Steve Voorhies said Jessica Dorrell, a 25-year-old football department employee, had been placed on leave but declined further comment, calling it a private personnel issue.

Dorrell, a former Arkansas volleyball player, was a Razorback Foundation fundraiser before she was hired as a student-athlete development coordinator by Petrino on March 28 at an annual salary of $55,735. She has not returned repeated calls seeking comment.

The move came as Petrino said he would not appeal his firing and seek any of the $18 million buyout that was part of his contract. His agent, Russ Campbell, sent an email to athletic director Jeff Long late Thursday saying Petrino had accepted ”responsibility for the events that led to the university’s decision to terminate his contract.”

”Coach Petrino and his family wish nothing but the best for both the Razorback football program and University of Arkansas,” Campbell wrote.

Petrino had the option to appeal as part of the seven-year contract he agreed to in December 2010. The contract was for more than $3.5 million annually and carried the $18 million mutual buyout clause in 2011 and 2012. The amount dropped over the life of the contract, falling to as little as $3.9 million in 2017.

Long said that Petrino was fired for cause, meaning the coach was not owed anything.

The 51-year-old Petrino was fired Tuesday for failing to disclose his relationship with Dorrell before she was hired, as required by conflict of interest rules at the school. The affair became public only after the two went for a motorcycle ride April 1 and skidded off the road, putting Petrino in the hospital and resulting in a police report that contained her identity.

Long has said the two were in a relationship for a ”significant” amount of time and phone records show they exchanged more than 4,300 text messages and nearly 300 phone calls over the past seven months, possibly including photo and video content.

The termination letter Long sent to Petrino was released by the school Friday and it had more specifics.

”(Y)ou deliberately failed to tell me that you had engaged in an extramarital affair with Ms. Dorrell over a period of several months leading up to your recommendation to hire her,” Long wrote. ”If you had been forthcoming with me about the true nature of your relationship, I would not have approved the hiring.”

Long also said Petrino ”admitting giving $20,000 cash to Ms. Dorrell as a ‘gift.’ Ms. Dorrell used the money to purchase a black Acura during the first week that she worked for the football program.

”Among other concerns relating to this ‘gift,’ you should have disclosed this fact to me … but you failed to do so,” Long wrote.

The athletic director ripped Petrino for ”poor judgment” and said that by lying to his boss and the public he had left the school with the task of ”restoring the reputation of our institution and our athletics programs.”

”I recognize that you are a very talented football coach,” Long wrote, ”but the university may not disregard your conduct or sacrifice its integrity, reputation and principles.”

As for Dorrell, it is unknown whether she will face the same fate.

In a March 20 letter Long sent to Dorrell offering her the job, he wrote that ”you should be aware that you will be held accountable for and must abide by University of Arkansas, Southeastern Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.”

The school, he added, ”expects integrity” and Dorrell was asked to comply with ”conflict of interest policies” among other things. The letter amounts to an ”understanding” that there are ”no agreements, whether written or oral, regarding your employment other than those contained in this letter.” The letter was signed by Dorrell.

A person familiar with the situation has told the AP that Dorrell had ”at one time” been engaged to another athletic department staffer, assistant strength and conditioning coach Josh Morgan. Voorhies said Morgan is still employed by Arkansas.
